Edge Specialist Recruitment had the pleasure of attending the latest event hosted by the Business Network SW and Sean Humby last week. The event consisted of a morning seminar focusing on the who, what, when, why and where of networking to start with. This was promptly followed by a networking lunch at which attendees had the opportunity to mingle around the room. During an excellent lunch service provided by the staff at the Exeter Racecourse all attendees then had the chance to talk about their business during an allocated window sat around their tables. It was certainly enjoyable juggling a pitch with a knife and fork and glass of wine in hand!
The event was certainly very useful and really helped reinforce that networking does not necessarily mean you jump up in people’s faces with your business card in hand all guns blazing! Let’s be honest, nobody likes a hard sell and there is an awful lot to be said for listening rather than going into granular detail about a product or service that you can offer. It’s clearly all about finding common ground in the first instance. With the right approach the business will take care of itself!
At EdgeSR we certainly found this to be an excellent event and are looking forward to the next one already! Thank you to Sean Humby, Business Network SW and of course Exeter Racecourse who made excellent hosts.
